The older, original material follows and covers a humanoid robot character: building an armature, applying bones with inverse kinematics and pole targets, posing the character, and constructing a walking animation using the dope sheet.

The interface lesson early on is the backbone the rest of the course depends on. It walks through orbiting, panning, and zooming the viewport, then the core transform shortcuts (G for grab, R for rotate, S for scale) and mesh editing basics like extrude and inset face. Everything later in the course assumes fluency with these, and the instructor is careful to demonstrate each one with the cube primitive before moving into full projects, which is the right call for a true beginner audience.

Where it succeeds and where it strains

The space project earns its place as the course's centerpiece. Keyframing the rocket's flight, adjusting the interpolation mode to linear so the object moves at a constant speed like it would in the vacuum of space, and staggering the asteroids' entry times to avoid a mechanical, synchronized look are genuinely useful lessons in believable motion timing, not just software mechanics. The instructor's habit of tuning by eye (nudging a keyframe's frame number, re-checking playback, adjusting again) models an iterative workflow that beginners rarely get shown explicitly.

The robot rigging section is more uneven. Inverse kinematics and pole targets are conceptually dense topics, and the explanation leans on the viewer following along in real time rather than building intuition first. Bone numbering and target selection get resolved by trial and error on screen ("I don't know which one it is yet, so I'm going to highlight it") rather than a clean, repeatable method, which will frustrate a beginner working at their own pace with a different rig layout. The walk cycle lesson that follows is more coherent: posing key frames, using the dope sheet to duplicate and offset poses, and looping the animation by matching the first and last frames is a legitimate, teachable technique, even if the final result looks appropriately rough rather than polished.

Render settings get a brief, practical pass covering sample counts, noise-based adaptive sampling, and light bounce depth, with a sensible note to render to image sequences rather than video files so a crash mid-render doesn't destroy the whole animation. It is not a deep dive into rendering theory, but it is enough for a beginner to get a usable output.

Verdict

The course delivers what its blurb promises: an approachable, no-prior-knowledge path into Blender's core animation tools, anchored by two complete beginner projects. It is not a technically rigorous rigging or animation course, and viewers hoping for professional-grade character work or a deep explanation of why inverse kinematics behaves the way it does will find the pacing thin. As a first exposure to modeling, keyframing, and rigging in one sitting, though, it does the job.
