 Harry Helps built this course around a single premise: assume the viewer has never opened Blender, and never let them feel lost. It largely delivers on that premise. Across roughly 289 minutes and 20 lessons, the course moves from downloading the software to rendering a finished campsite scene, and each lesson builds narrowly on the one before it rather than jumping around.

## Structure and pacing

 The first stretch of lessons is deliberately slow: installing Blender, reading the splash screen, saving and Save As versus Save, then a long, careful lesson on viewport navigation covering rotate, pan, zoom and the difference between perspective and orthographic views. This is where the course earns its "complete beginner" label. Harry explains that he has changed three default keybindings to match his own preferences and flags each one as it comes up, which is a small but meaningful detail that prevents confused viewers from thinking Blender is broken.

 From there the course works through the core object-editing toolkit: moving, selecting, joining, parenting and separating objects, then applying transformations and adjusting the object origin. The origin lesson is a good example of the teaching style here. Harry uses a mug with a handle to show how origin-to-geometry and origin-to-center-of-mass-volume produce different pivot points, and why a lopsided object like a handle needs a different approach than a symmetrical one. That is a concrete, transferable idea rather than a vague gesture at "settings."

## Materials, camera and the final render

 Later lessons cover modifiers, animation basics and a full pass on the shading workspace, where base color, metallic, roughness and IOR sliders are explained with visual before-and-afters rather than just definitions. The material section also shows how to make a shared material unique to one object by clicking the user-count number next to its name, a workflow trick that solves a real point of confusion for anyone customizing a scene made of duplicated objects.

 The camera lesson stands out. Rather than leaving beginners to fight Blender's counterintuitive camera controls, Harry demonstrates the "camera to view" checkbox, which lets a learner navigate the viewport normally while the camera itself moves along with it. It is a small workflow trick, but one that meaningfully shortens the learning curve for framing a shot.

 The course closes with compositing: adjusting glare threshold and size, adding a lens distortion node for a subtle rainbow fringe, and exporting the final JPEG. This gives the class project a genuine finish line rather than trailing off after the last modeling lesson.

## Where it falls short

 The course does not go deep on any single subject. Modifiers, animation and shading each get a lesson or two, not enough to produce independent competence beyond the guided project. Viewers who want to understand sculpting, rigging, procedural shader graphs, or non-destructive modeling workflows will need a follow-up class. The reliance on a premade starter file is also a double-edged design choice: it removes friction for absolute beginners but means the learner practices adjusting an existing model more than building one from scratch.

 For its stated audience, though, the pacing and sequencing work. It is a reasonable first stop for someone who wants to understand what Blender's interface is actually doing before committing to a longer, more specialized class.

 The standout

 The camera-to-view lesson, which shows how to link viewport navigation directly to camera movement so beginners can frame a shot without fighting Blender's usual camera controls.
